Fruit is amazingly cheap in California, so much cheaper than Chicago and its so called “Bart Marts” and “Co-Ops”. And from what I experienced at said locals, the fruit and vegetables weren’t even that good- they would be all bruised or mildly tasteless. But oooh the ecstasy that is fresh California produce- makes you all tingly with its delectable crispness…it would almost be worth it to give everything up and become a migrant worker and breathe in the pesticides just to pull that potato from the ground and bite into with a great big grin as potato juices drip from your smile.
